Who we are
SUJUD Energy Limited is the data controller for personal information received through its commercial correspondence and website enquiries. For privacy enquiries, contact chartering@sujudenergy.com. Personal information is handled in accordance with applicable Nigerian data protection law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
Information and purposes
We may process names, business contact information, company affiliations, enquiry details and correspondence to respond to enquiries, assess commercial opportunities, verify counterparty authority, maintain records and comply with legal obligations. The website enquiry form prepares a message in your email application; it does not itself upload the form contents to a SUJUD enquiry database. Once you send the email, its contents are processed as business correspondence.
Lawful basis and disclosures
We generally rely on legitimate interests to respond to business enquiries and assess potential counterparties, steps requested before a contract where applicable, and legal obligations for compliance and recordkeeping. The appropriate lawful basis depends on the circumstances. We may share information where necessary and lawful with professional advisers, email and technology providers, verification providers and relevant transaction participants.
Security, retention and transfers
We take reasonable steps to protect business correspondence, including limiting access to people who need the information for legitimate business purposes and using access controls available through our service providers. We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, assess opportunities, maintain relevant business records, comply with legal obligations or address disputes. When information is no longer needed, we will delete or anonymise it where reasonably practicable, subject to any legal retention requirements. Our email and hosting providers may process information outside Nigeria. Where personal information is transferred outside Nigeria, SUJUD will assess the applicable data protection requirements and implement the safeguards required for the relevant transfer.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, individuals may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection and may raise concerns with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. Send privacy requests to chartering@sujudenergy.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
We will update this notice when our processing practices or applicable requirements change.
