Risk-based commercial verification
SUJUD's verification approach is designed around the nature and risk of each proposed transaction. Relevant steps may include:
- Identifying the legal entity, commercial role and authorised representative.
- Requesting written authority or mandate from any party claiming to represent a principal, and clarifying the basis for any brokerage or commission arrangement.
- Checking corporate and beneficial-ownership particulars, where proportionate.
- Considering relevant UN, OFAC, EU and UK sanctions requirements and vessel-related risks where applicable.
- Using suitable confidentiality and non-circumvention arrangements before sensitive introductions.
- Seeking independent verification of financial assurances through authenticated banking channels where appropriate.
SUJUD does not treat unsolicited documents or unverified statements as conclusive proof of ownership, authority, funds or vessel availability.
Commercial safeguards
- Parties claiming to act for principals should provide written authority or mandate. The role of any intermediary and the basis of any commission must be established before protected introductions.
- Confidential identities and transaction information may be disclosed in stages, with appropriate confidentiality and non-circumvention arrangements (including an NCNDA where suitable).
- Financial assurances, when legitimately required, should be independently verified through authenticated banking channels rather than accepted solely from emailed documents.
- SUJUD does not treat unsolicited proof-of-funds, proof-of-product or vessel offers as verified evidence without appropriate checks.
SUJUD does not charge vessel owners or operators merely to receive or be considered for chartering opportunities.
Where brokerage, commission or other remuneration applies, the relevant arrangements, including the responsible paying party, will be disclosed and agreed in writing before any payment obligation arises.
Vessel owners and operators will not be asked to pay fees that have not been disclosed and agreed in writing.
